16 Dead And 70 Injured In Auto Crash On Ibadan-Lagos Road
Tragedy struck yesterday at Sepo end of the Lagos- Ibadan Expressway as 17 people were feared dead in an auto crash involving a J5 and an articulated lorry.
It was learnt that 70 others sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
While confirming the incident, Oyo State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commissionm FRSC, Mr. Yusuf Salami, said the accident was due to over speeding and impatience on the part of both drivers. According to him, the two Lagos bound vehicles were both struggling for right of way when they lost control.
He added that the auto crash, which occurred close to Dominion University Sepo, involved a Peugeot J5 with plate number XS 626 LSV and a DAF articulated vehicle with plate number AA 902 MML.
Salami stated that corpses of the dead have been deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital mortuary.
